The short version

YouTube Screenshot does not collect, store, transmit or sell any personal data. The extension has no server and no account. Every frame you capture is drawn inside your own browser tab and saved to your own computer.

What the extension does with your data

Data	What happens to it
Captured frames	Drawn from the video element in the page and written straight to your downloads folder, or to your clipboard. They are never uploaded anywhere.
Your settings	Image format, quality, capture action, frame rate and button visibility are kept in chrome.storage.sync. Chrome syncs them across your own signed-in browsers. They never reach us.
Browsing activity	Not read, not recorded, not transmitted. The extension only runs on youtube.com pages, and only to draw its buttons and capture a frame when you ask.
Personal information	None is requested. There is no sign up, no account and no payment.
The rating prompt	After a few captures the extension may ask you to rate it. Clicking a star opens a page in a new tab — the Chrome Web Store reviews page, or a feedback form for a low rating. Nothing is sent when the prompt is shown, and it never appears again once you answer or close it.

Permissions and why they exist

scripting	Add the capture button to YouTube tabs that were already open when the extension was installed, so you do not have to reload them.
*://*.youtube.com/*	Place the button in the player and read the video frame. The extension runs on no other site.

The extension requests nothing beyond these three. It does not use the downloads permission, does not ask for access to all websites, and loads no remote code.

Third parties

The extension itself contacts no third party. Two things apply to this website only — the page that opens once after you install the extension — and never to the extension running on YouTube.

• It is served by GitHub Pages, which may record standard web-server information such as an IP address and a browser user agent.
• It carries a visit counter from Umami, so we can tell how many people installed the extension. Umami sets no cookies, collects no personal data and builds no profile across sites; it records the page view, the referrer, and a coarse country derived from the IP address, which is not stored. The data is held in the European Union.

Neither of them runs while you use the extension, and neither sees anything about the videos you watch or the frames you capture. There is no advertising on this site and nobody is identified.

Children

The extension is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top.
